Scabs, guns and peanut butter
Jeordie White is the bass player of metal band Marilyn Manson. He’s also known as Twiggy Ramirez and is also another one of my top 5 favorite musicians and style icons.
Jeordie was born in Florida and, as an original guitar player, won several awards. He used to play for Amboog-a-lard until he joined Marilyn Manson on the late 80’s and allowed us to enjoy his musical talent and varied influences.
Mr. White chose his stage name, as all of the other Manson members, based on the dichotomy of life/death, good/bad, beautiful/ugly and wisely picked Twiggy Lawson, the skinny uber cool and beautiful 60’s model and serial killer Richard Ramirez to create his persona.
The result was pretty amazing, not just from a musical point of view but especially from a fashion perspective. Not being afraid of playing with androgyny Jeordie mixed both characters and wore 60’s esque dresses, usually on 2 bold colors, matching them with cool military boots, fishnets as well as a display of peculiar and funny collection of wigs in and out stage. He saw him imitating 60’s eyelashes and make up.
I loved the way people didn’t know if he was a boy or a girl because he wore dresses and has a tinny body frame (well, another reason why to choose Twiggy as a first name), he was not afraid of any sort of reactions, he just followed his ways and influences. He is also a very funny guy. Have you ever seen the mtv cribs video shot in his house? Geeky, classy and entertaining.
Fashion wise I personally loved his 60’s jungle green-white and china pink-white dresses, that pale pink and wine red stripy jumper (I remeber I asked my mum to knit something similar because I love those colours together), the detail of the fake make -up eye lashes, his fringe and his dreadlocks. He was very original, sexy and charismatic.
As far as I am concerned Jeordie has moved on to a more spiritual kind of fashion and ways. You’ll usually see him wearing bold dark colors, wide clothing, comfy flip-flops and a bindi on his forehead as well as a large beard. Fair enough we grow up and evolute, otherwise we would get stocked in there and would never try anything new. This is something that I really admire.
Creepy and cute, talented and daring, intelligent and charismatic. These are just some of the reasons to love Jeordie White.
Definitely one to watch.
